Hostgator Review

Tagged Under : , , , ,

Well I have been getting lots of emails and comments about the site. A lot of praise and criticisms. But by far the most popular is, how do I do the same? I want to setup my own site! Well I did a review on my host Hostgator that I have added below. I can only recommend them highly! Review below..

Have you ever thought about setting up your own website? It’s extremely easy to do. Not because you live in Trinidad and Tobago means it cant be done. It takes less than ten minutes. This very site was registered and setup in no time at all.

So where do you start? You need a host to keep your files. The current reviews show that HostGator is the number one host on the Internet. See description below

HostGator is one of the world’s top 10 largest web hosting companies with more than 2,200,000 hosted domains. We have over 200 employees to provide you around-the-clock superior support. We are the perfect choice whether you are looking for business, personal, or even Fortune 500 hosting.

Every web hosting plan comes with a 45 day money back guarantee, 99.9% uptime guarantee, and is fully guaranteed by the owner himself. If you ever have a problem with regular support just ask that your ticket be assigned to Brent and he will personally take the time to give you the VIP attention that you deserve.

How much does it cost? $4.95US a month. Why should you pay? Well first of all you are paying for all the support and features you don’t get with a free host. Secondly, you don’t have any ads or pop-ups to worry about. Don’t let that Trini mentality kick in, its only $30TT a month. If you cant afford that, you shouldn’t have an on-line business in the first place. They even have a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied. They even setup your domain name for FREE. Now you can register www.yourname.com for free.

What I also like about Hostgator is that they come with templates for everything, even Wordpress like what this site is made up of. Easy graphical install so no downloads etc. By far the best thing about HostGator is their 24hr live support. Yup you heard right, there is a real live person to help you in case you have any problems at any time of the day or night. Very comforting, I must say.

If you are really serious about setting up your own business or having one setup, use HostGator. If you ar hosting somewhere else, consider moving. You wont be disappointed! Check it out..

Thought So

Well, the problem came back. Thought so. After all the emails back and forth I eventually had to move the site. This really has me peeved. I guess Trinis don’t get an equal share as the rest of the world. Lets not even start on customer service. Well judging from the current state of things we should be good to go.

Lookout for more upcoming events here as we continue to add more features to the site. Enjoy your stay!

Problem Solved!

….for now. After trying numerous times to get on to someone in the technical department, I got in contact with a friend from UWI days. I am not sure what the problem was but it is fixed not. If I find out the cause of the problem I’ll post it here.

Headway with DNS problem

We have had some headway with the DNS problem. Persons who are using 196.3.132.153 or 196.3.132.154 as their DNS server assigned to them by TSTT may not be able to view the site. If you have friends who are with Blink and would like them to get on to the site please advise them to use

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

as their DNS entries. More info at www.OpenDNS.co ont setting this. It’s extremely easy.

In the mean time we are working hard to get thias sorted and if anyone has had dealings with TSTT in the past, you would know just how difficult that is.

TSTT DNS woes

Tagged Under : , , ,

What a way to start off a blog. Initially it was our plan to keep the site formal with minimal user interaction. It was just meant to work. But it seems that given the turn of events that we have no control over, we had no choice to set this blog up.

Our site is mainly targeted to Trinidadians and Tobagonians. As such, most of our traffic originates locally in Trinidad and Tobago. Today however, upon checking the site we noticed that the site couldn’t be found. After a little investigating it was found that the major local ISP Telecommunication Services of Trinidad and Tobago DNS servers were to blame.

This means that a lot of locals who are trying to get on to the site woud think it is down where in fact TSTT is the problem. Assuming that the DNS issue is ‘resolved’ now and you are reading this article, here are some steps to get around TSTT’s DNS problem permanently.

1. Whenever you think a site is down, visit  http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com and put in the site you would like to check. If it is not down you would be able to find out. The step below should solve all your DNS problems.

2. Use OpenDNS instead of TSTT DNS. Here is a link explaining how to set it up on your computer.

I hope this helps. If you were sucessful in setting up OpenDNS, then hopefully in the future you wouldnt have ’server problems’. Happy posting!
